In his 2017 Ted talk, Extreme Ownership, U.S. Navy Seal Jocko Willink shares how he had to prepare a debrief for his commanding officer (in the Spring of 2006 after a failed operation in the city of Ramadi, Iraq), to explain exactly what happened on the operation and what had gone wrong. He knew it meant that somebody had to pay; somebody had to be held accountable; somebody had to get fired for what had happened. In preparing for his debrief he detailed every mistake that was made and who made it - there was plenty of blame to go around, so many people that he could incriminate with guilt. However, 10 minutes before the debrief started he realised - and it hit him like a slap in the face - that there was only one person to blame. That day he took full responsibility and went on to explain the new tactics, techniques and procedures him and his men were going to implement to ensure such a travesty does not happen again. And guess what?...

How can you become more influential in your relationships and career?
THE 'PERFECT' TEN is back this week with TOP SKILL #9 Influence.
The world’s highest performers are remarkably influential. Take a moment to think about the most influential person in your life. What makes them so influential?
Communicating with impact and developing influence with those around you, will make you better at getting people to believe in and support your efforts and ambitions. Unless you consciously develop a positive support network, major achievements over the long haul are all but impossible.
"Power is of two kinds: One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love."
I am delighted to be joined by Louise Cartwright and Robert Coles this Weds, 14 Oct @ 12pm, where we will discuss the importance of developing influence.

For me, physiology mastery is all about:
"The day I left my job - because of a bully - I was a breaking point. After about two weeks of staying in my pyjamas most days, one morning I forced myself to get up and out. I started going to the gym. It was hard in the beginning, but I instinctively knew (due to my history with an eating disorder), that I needed to take control of my nutrition and exercise first and foremost. If rehab taught me one thing all those...
