People will never forget how you made them feel ..

This is such a great reminder to always be kind .. no matter how you are feeling, what is going on in your life or what has just happened. I bet we have all been on the receiving end of toxic behaviour and have never forgotten that person or how they made us feel. 

When I started to share my story I was chatting with someone I had just met. We had exchanged information about our roles and situations and when I told her I had left a toxic environment and that it had taken me nearly three years to do so. She blatantly asked me why it took me so long to leave ... it wasn't what she said, it was the way she said it that made me feel stupid, insignificant and a complete idiot. 

Following that conversation, I did a lot of soulsearching to figure out exactly why it took me so long to leave. I figured out three key things about my situation that I share in my book. It also taught me about how words can have a massive impact on the way you make someone feel. It is in pivotal moments like these that we grow as individuals.
