🔅If you only had today, can you say that you lived fully?🔅

📢 trigger alert 📢

Last year, I lost my best friend Andrew. For 41 years, he was like a brother to me, we met on the playground aged 5. On 22 Feb 2023, I received news that he was in ICU with acute pancreatitis. I saw him briefly before my flight (from Cape Town to London), and I told him “I love you, I’ll see you in two weeks.” He nodded. The next morning, as I landed at Heathrow airport, I received news of Andrew’s passing.

Two weeks ago, my husband, Heinie saw a dermatologist to have a mole under his right breast area checked out. 2.5 hrs later he returned home with a 10cm cut and 20 stitches. Four days later, the diagnosis came back: Stage 4 malignant melanoma (cancerous tumour). We got the news that they have to operate.

Earlier this morning, as I watched Heinie being pushed into the operating theatre, I had a flashback to the last time I saw Andrew. I can’t quite put these emotions into words yet, so I’ll just leave it there for now.

I am sharing this with you TODAY - I am inviting you into my messy middle - because we’re all navigating something in our lives - right now. We’re all navigating a ‘messy middle’. The last two weeks have been surreal - a massive wake-up call.

What a way to be reminded - AGAIN - that we’re not guaranteed tomorrow. To be grateful for one more day together; one more MOMENT together; to make it count.

Every moment matters. Make the memories.
