Do you have a super power?

ignite you Nov 19, 2020

At this point I won't blame you for thinking: "What a silly question Marilise, do I look like a superhero / heroine to you?"

Can you please entertain the idea (for moment) that we are all born with a super power?

What if that super power is YOU?

Eek.. have I lost you? No? Then read on...

It's not too late to JOIN my free 45 mins IGNITE YOU masterclass on 20 Nov @12pm GMT. I'll share my IGNITE YOU blueprint (see below).

If you'd ask me these questions a few years ago, I would have told you to get lost. In fact, I would've probably used much stronger language.

At the time I felt lost. I'd just left my corporate job because of a toxic boss. I was unemployed, without purpose and fat. I was on the brink of a nervous breakdown, but I guess deep down I believed that I am enough. I got up, put on my big girl panties and started walking the long painful road to recovery.

Perhaps the biggest truth I had to face was that I allowed my boss to steal my power, in fact I did more than that, I gave it to him on a platter. My imposter was rife, I was so desperate to prove myself, to please him, to fix problems that weren't fixable that I completely lost myself in the process. My boss overstepped the boundaries I set early on, and because I stopped fighting with him (you cannot reason with a bully), things gradually got worse and the toxic behaviour was normalised.

Which brings me back to super powers. At the time I was trying to control people and situations that were impossible to control, and I only realised this much later when writing my book ROAR! How to Tame the Bully Inside and Out. I realised that we can only ever control four things:

  1. Our thoughts
  2. Our feelings
  3. Our words
  4. Our actions

The critical thing to realise here is that your feelings are not in charge. We only ever feel what we are thinking. Thinking will only ever do one of two things: it will either work for you, or against you. The metaphor I use is the story of Simba and Scar from the Lion King. When the conversations I have with myself are calm, courageous and caring, Simba is in the driving seat, but when self-hatred, fears, limiting beliefs, excuses and old stories cripple me, Scar takes over. I learned the power of "mind over matter". I learned to catch my negative self-talk sooner and I've learned to reframe my thoughts - to be positive, joyful and grateful. To see possibilities. To put my past behind me - once and for all.

I learned that I already have everything inside me to achieve an extraordinary life. I just had to start believing this:

I am enough. I am my own biggest super power.
You can be your own biggest super power too.

Find out how. JOIN my free 45 mins IGNITE YOU masterclass on Friday 20 Nov @12pm (GMT). I'll share my IGNITE YOU blueprint (see below).

Now is your time to ignite the (super) power of you and ignite the power of your voice.
