Blue nails and a quiet mirror moment

Mar 24, 2026

On colour, the Lover, and what I almost missed.

Royal blue for my hands. Pale blue for my toes. An ordinary decision that took far too long.

Lately I’ve been paying attention to what I’m instinctively drawn to, and asking: what is this telling me? Colour. Music. The book title that’s mentioned repeatedly in conversations.

This was my most recent version of holding up the mirror and having a moment of quiet truth. Step 1 of the ROAR for MOAR Hero’s Journey, Hold up the mirror and get honest, is also a quiet moment of reflection, paying attention to the little things. As I love to say: ‘The little things aren’t the big things, the little things are everything.’

What the blue was reflecting...

I’ve been a student of The Wisdom of the Colour Mirrors by Korani Connolly and Melissie Jolly for some time now. The system uses dual-coloured oil bottles and essences, each one acting as a “mirror” to reflect your inner state. The idea is simple: colour is the language of the soul, and what we’re drawn to reveals more than first meets the eye.

The royal blue / pale blue combination I’d chosen corresponds to Bottle 2: The Moon. Here is what the book says about it:

“This bottle carries the energy of the moon and the tides, the seasons and the cycles of existence. It relates to the throat, choice and taking responsibility for your word. It is helpful when you have difficulty communicating and making yourself heard. This bottle brings peace, connecting you with angelic realms and enfolding you in a protective blue cloak. So far, very few of your fears have manifested. Begin to have faith that what has kept you safe until now will continue to do so.”

I sat with that for a while.

Bottle 2 simply says: I feel. It was an invitation to slip gently into a more intuitive and restful state.

Peace. Having faith. The throat. It’s safe now to share your wisdom. No more playing small. Own your magic. Your message matters.

It was the confirmation I needed. True power has nothing to fear.

There’s something else that struck me about this bottle. Blue is so often associated with the masculine: authority, logic, control. But here it carries an intensely nurturing, powerfully female energy. The Moon bottle represents the female who has claimed her power and has no need of anyone — or anything — to define her. That landed somewhere deep.

My Lover archetype was calling

If you’ve been following this month’s newsletter series on the four archetypes, you’ll know that March is all about exploring your inner navigation team: the King/Queen, the Warrior, the Lover and the Magician.

The Lover is the archetype of connection and heart. Its most important task is to listen to what genuinely has heart and meaning for you. The Lover helps you build authentic connection, nurture joy in daily life and celebrate the journey rather than fixating solely on the destination.

When I look at what the blue was reflecting back at me this week, it was pure Lover energy. Peace. Presence. Trusting that I am held. Speaking my truth. Being heard.

In the newsletter this month, I shared how, a few years ago, my Warrior had completely taken over. I was grinding, pushing, doing more. And my Lover had gone very quiet. No joy. No real presence. No faith in myself.

The shift back to the Lover started with small things. Ten minutes in the morning. Noticing what brought me genuine joy. Choosing to feel something rather than push through it.

I realised that I wasn’t just drawn to blue this week. I was being called back to my own Lover.

The bottle’s message is: ‘Be at peace. All is well.’ And that, it turns out, was exactly what I needed to hear.

My affirmation right now, from that space: I am present. I am peaceful. I am powerful.

The mirror is everywhere

Pay attention. You don’t need to sit in ceremony or spend an hour journalling to hold up the mirror. Sometimes it’s quieter than that.

The song you’ve had on repeat. The colour that keeps catching your eye. The book you keep meaning to read. The conversation you’ve been putting off. These are all invitations.

ROAR in Action

Recognise: notice something you’ve been drawn to recently. A colour, a song, a word that keeps popping up.

Observe: sit with it for a moment. Don’t analyse, just notice.

Assert: ask, if this were a message, what would it be saying? Which archetype is it calling you toward? Your inner King/Queen asking for a clearer direction? Your Warrior reminding you to hold a boundary? Your Magician whispering that there’s a different way to see this? Or your Lover, quietly asking you to slow down and actually feel your life?

Redirect: choose one small action that honours what the mirror is showing you. Even just naming it out loud is a good start.

The mirror is always there. Are you willing to have an honest look?

Get your copy of MOAR! and dive into Chapter 2, where we go deep into each archetype and how to recognise where you’ve been leading from shadow (your ego self) and how to shift back to your light (your authentic self).

I’d love to know: what colour or small thing has been catching your attention lately? What might it be mirroring back to you? Drop it in the comments.

With more Lover vibes,

Marilise
