MOAR! Book Launch

I invited my inner circle to my home in Jamestown. Friends, family, the people who have walked this journey with me.

Fifty people. 6 to 9 p.m. Kapula candles glowing everywhere. Flowers from Jamestown Flower Farm filling every corner. And the Stellenbosch mountain putting on a show I couldn’t have scripted if I tried. First luminous orange, then pink, as the sun went down on a perfect African summer evening. Breathtakingly beautiful.

About the author

Marilise de Villiers Basson is the founder and CEO of ROAR! Coaching & Consulting. A recognised wellbeing expert specialising in burnout recovery and leadership development, she works with leaders and organisations to create resilient cultures by doing the inner work first.

Together, ROAR! and MOAR! offer readers both the language and the tools to speak up, lead bravely, and thrive - not just survive - at work.

MOAR! – Why success isn’t enough

In MOAR!, Marilise turns her focus to burnout, exhaustion, and the quiet emptiness experienced by many high achievers. Challenging traditional wellbeing programmes that treat symptoms rather than root causes, the book invites readers to stop doing more and start transforming from the inside out.

MOAR! introduces practical frameworks including the Wellbeing Trio, the four-step ROAR process, and the ROAR for MOAR Hero’s Journey, guiding readers to:

  • Understand the current wellbeing crisis
  • Lead with authenticity and purpose
  • Create thriving, people-centred work cultures
  • Reclaim energy, meaning, and personal voice

ROAR! – Finding the courage to speak up

In ROAR!, Marilise tackles the silent damage caused by bullying - in the workplace, online, and in everyday life. The book empowers readers to recognise toxic behaviour, understand the dynamics between bully, victim, and culture, and respond with confidence and clarity rather than fear or avoidance.

Through a clear, step-by-step framework, ROAR! helps readers:

  • Identify bullying behaviours early
  • Avoid common pitfalls when dealing with difficult personalities
  • Navigate courageous conversations
  • Build resilience, confidence, and self-belief
