ROAR!
How to tame the bully inside and out
About the book
ROAR! shines a spotlight on workplace bullying - today's silent epidemic. It describes the dynamics that play out when people demean, derail and destruct.
There is always a toxic trio: a bully, a victim, and a workplace culture that is a breeding ground for bullying behaviour. Although the focus of this book is on workplace bullying, at heart it is about overcoming adversity in general - those inevitable curveballs that life throws at us.
In Marilise's case it was the sexual abuse she suffered as an eight-year-old and a 15-year long battle with eating disorders that eventually landed her in rehab. This was followed, many years later, by encountering a workplace bully whose mental, emotional and verbal abuse brought her to her knees.

"It's been a long time since I've devoured a paperback in an evening but thanks to Marilise I've found my ROAR! With so many personal and professional changes and challenges it can be difficult to know where to turn, to feel confident, and find the courage to continue. This book is a brilliant reminder that we are all good enough, and capable of anything in our careers and personal lives. I will never again apologise for 'nothing technical enough' or of being 'overly empathetic'. I'll keep being true to myself and just be me - especially if it helps anyone else. Thank you Marilise for your insights, authenticity, and plain English!!
ROAR! is a raw and heartfelt straightforward people book, backed up by sound research and clear strategies for everyone, everyday. An absolute must read!

‘Reading ROAR! was like inhaling oxygen – stimulating my mind and raising my emotions. The book inspires the understanding that it is not about the bully that attacks us, or being the victim enabled by our self-criticism, or the culture that causes it to flourish. It is about overcoming adversity. It is about accepting ourselves, choosing to be the best self we can be and loving the one we are.’
